Ok, while re-going over SWAK, I realized that the mailed Anthrax scare happened in RL not that long before (2001-02 right after the bombing). And you add that to the fact that the envelope was only addressed to a “NCIS Special Agent,” and there was no way in hell it would have passed through.
It was very probably burned/destroyed with the rest of the junk mail. And that was the end of that.
So, no plague.

Chapter 1:
May 10th, 2005: Early Morning NCIS Bullpen:
Tony was ever so happy he kept his work up to date as he did at that time. He only needed a quick pass, and he was done, except for the probies work. So, in the meantime, he was finishing up the insurance paperwork on his stolen (and now destroyed) classic car so he could be reimbursed for the classic car value. And once he finished, he attached a copy of the news show about the police and crash where the car crashed into the semi. Then he sent the whole thing off to Colman. Who was his lawyer from the firm he kept on retainer for weird things like this.
He had called a friend who had a good lead on something to replace his Vette and was just waiting to hear back. He thought about things some more and checked to see how much time HR wanted him to burn, and the time the new director was due to replace Morrow and put in a three-week PTO (Paid Time Off) to start the following Monday.
If the assholes thought he was such a nobody, that they could get away with their comments about his only means of transport being on national news during a police chase and crash which destroyed it. Then let them deal without him for a few weeks.
He got up to get himself bottled water from the machine in the break room, then headed back to his desk to finish his e-mailing. Sending one to his frat brother, Nate, to head over to his place and pack up all but his clothes and put them in a Pod for now. He would stay in a hotel till he could find a better place that did not keep having everything breaking down at the drop of a hat. And after he got off work, he would go back to the old place to grab his clothes to take to the hotel where he would stay.
He had already spent the weekend at the firm redoing his POA (Power of Attorney) and MPOA (Medical Power of Attorney) back over to Nate and away from anyone at the office. Including, big mouth, Ducky, and Gibbs. And the firm faxed and e-mailed everything over to legal and HR right afterwards. With confirmation and signed paperwork to show everything had been changed.
He knew both Kate and McGee were due soon, and Gibbs was up with the new director and Morrow going over some stuff, so he was trying to do everything he needed to do as soon as he could.
And also knew that Abby and Kate spent the weekend, not at a weekend spa like they planned, but at Kate’s. Missing, yet again, their planned girl’s get-away, but this time not because of a case, but because Kate had come down with a cold and Abby went over with soup and girl movies to bond that way.
He had heard all about it when he had come in that morning to a bouncy goth, who had finally gotten her mass-spec back up and running from the techs.

The term “We have met the enemy, and he is us” by Pogo, came to Tony’s mind after the “Pep-Talk” the incoming Director gave everyone from the Mezzanine, and he was wondering if it really was not time to polish off his resume.
Really it was almost right out of book five of Harry Potter from Umbridge. He swore to himself that the first time he saw her wearing any pink he would run screaming away from her.
He was glad they quickly got a case right after that so he could concentrate on something else.
And the fact that they had weekend cases meant little to him this time, as he had already arranged for Cassie Yates to take his place while he was gone.
So, packing up everything on and in, his desk, (he had already packed up his locker) he headed out to the hotel. With his known phones shut off, which were the only things left in his desk drawers.
Not only Ding, but Clark from “Rainbow Six” returns in this.

Chapter 2:
Eye for an Eye
Tooth for a Tooth
It did not take Tony long to find a place he liked that had good security, now that he was not trying to work while doing so. And had signed to lease and put down the payment for the rest of that month through the end of December.
He then called his frat brother to grab his Pod and take it over to unload it there, while he went to look for a new vehicle. He wanted out of the newest version of the Gremlin as possible.
From there, he spent till the middle of the next week looking over the various cars, until he finally found what he wanted. And not only bought it but had them add on a few things he felt he needed to it. Getting a timeline of a few weeks till he could pick it up. Which worked well for him.
Until then, he went to replace his old electronics and put in for a new back-up gun as his old one was due to be replaced. And to get internet and cable hooked up at his new place, along with TIVO.
With all those taken care of, he spent his second week setting up his home office in his second bedroom. And then he used his connections to get a secure line for his internet and get a line to the office for the times he needs to work from home. This took through the weekend. Leaving him with only a week left for his vacation.
And unfortunately for all concerned, that was cut short as he received word that his partner and probie, Kate, had been killed in the line of duty by Ari. Shot while protecting Gibbs after an attempted bombing earlier. Thankfully, Palmer had been in Abby’s lab and was able to tackle her before she, also, was shot and killed by Ari.
As it was, he called Kate’s sister to pay his condolences and find out when and where the funeral would be. Then made his arrangements to head out there the night before.
Then called Abby to make sure she was ok and asked if she and the others wanted a ride to the funeral. And at that time, he found out about both Ducky and Gerald.
That was the last straw. It was time to call in an old debt owed.

Ding Chaves watched Dav’id’s daughter head towards the hotel and signaled to the two others to follow her and made a click on his microphone to let Clark know everything was a go.
Clark watched as Haswarri prepared for his own ambush at Agent Gibbs house, Clark’s own “Kate” at the ready. And at the sound of the click, he lined up and fired. Killing Ari with a quick kill shot through the back of his head and taking out his face.
Then policed his brass and walked up to the assassin to drop a black rose on the body, before walking to the waiting car and riding away.
Ding’s people, meanwhile, forced a walkout of Eli’s daughter and her accomplice along with the paperwork showing Israel had set things up to allow their operatives to aid in getting a known terrorist out of the country.
The fallout from this would be massive and bring down the Mossad Administration.

In Indiana, a day later, the funeral of Caitlyn Todd with Agents from both agencies she worked at attended. Her casket draped in the American Flag. Along with her work family.
In the background, after the priest blessing, Abby has set a New Orleans Jazz CD playing. The type of music was usually played at funerals, as the agents walked by, one by one to place a rose on the casket.
Tony had already tucked a copy of her college wet t-shirt photo inside, along with Abby and Her’s revenge copy of him.
He had already set up time for him and Abby to head to the convent back in DC to sing a novena and each of them light a candle for her.
As it was, once the CD ended, he stood near the bottom of her casket and everyone quieted as he began singing out the Simon and Garfunkel’s version of Benedictus with Abby harmonizing in her contralto voice:
Benedictus qui est venit
In nomine Domine
In nomine
In nomine
In nomine Domine
In nomine Domine
In nomine
In nomine
In nomine Domine
With the end fading away, everyone quietly called out Amen, and slowly began to depart.
