Where dips the rocky highland
Of Sleuth Wood in the lake,
There lies a leafy island
Where flapping herons wake
The drowsy water rats;
There we’ve hid our faery vats,
Full of berrys
And of reddest stolen cherries.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.
Where the wave of moonlight glosses
The dim gray sands with light,
Far off by furthest Rosses
We foot it all the night,
Weaving olden dances
Mingling hands and mingling glances
Till the moon has taken flight;
To and fro we leap
And chase the frothy bubbles,
While the world is full of troubles
And anxious in its sleep.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.
Where the wandering water gushes
From the hills above Glen-Car,
In pools among the rushes
That scarce could bathe a star,
We seek for slumbering trout
And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.
Away with us he’s going,
The solemn-eyed:
He’ll hear no more the lowing
Of the calves on the warm hillside
Or the kettle on the hob
Sing peace into his breast,
Or see the brown mice bob
Round and round the oatmeal chest.
For he comes, the human child,
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than he can understand.
W.B. Yeats.
Fae Child 1
They felt Called to him, this solemn and quiet child of three who was named by Destiny’s Hand. Their smallest scurried about the Cursed Clean House in gamesmanship as a mouse. Seeking, seeking the Boy of Destiny whose Power Called them for aid. And finding him would not be denied again.
Their most senior and powerful Elders came and reworked the Charming Charms put forth by an idiot who sought power. The Charms NOW were tied, not to Destiny’s Boy, but to the other unloved boy within. The dress up doll was used for pride. His own meagre magics they had tied. Now was used to retain the Charms of the idiot with a plan, while they whisked Destiny’s Child to their own Lands.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
There, oh there, he was trained as was needed under proper teachers in magics old and new, to bring down the one who would destroy Lady Magic’s Works and that would not do.
Being properly prepared to take his place amongst his own race and kin to destroy another in his sin.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
A Regent was his new Keeper and would Stand before the Pretender’s Might. To aid his ward in his fight. And at the time of the Pretender’s Letter going out, the Owl came to them, and an answer was returned, the vaults KEYS returned. And the underground men forced to audit. All those families he was keyed to in name as Heir one way or another. Even those who left him everything they treasured. All vaults tied to His Family(s) were added to this audit and vaults sealed. Business accounts shut till accounted for, and the school. The government’s handling of his estates. All must now be accounted for about their waste.
Panic everywhere as the Gentry have no money or access to their accounts. Businesses they thought in their control now must answer to another. Higher. ALL old debts from betrayers to his families called in, to even further panic within.
And on the 31st, at noon thunder clapped and there…. There, an Old One Walked.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
Their Savior dressed as kin to the Old One and head held high, walked up the bank steps and the goblins laid their heads low. A runner went to summon the Pretender, who flamed in with his familiar. Then was dropped from on high as the Phoenix got sight of the Old One guards, and the Pretender started to put up personality charms. Then the Phoenix broke the bindings from which the Pretender gained power from him. And flamed out. Leaving the Pretender weakened even further.
The Goblin acknowledged Regent stepped out with his ward behind him to be faced with the Pretender’s group attacking. Their weak magic was cupped into his hand and dissipated then he reached out that hand and clasped. They all disappeared to the Huntsman Lands and The Hunt. Then another grasp and gasp, to bring a wraith into view. Bringing it the face of the Boy, who touched it with his Mother’s Sacrifice and blew the Wraith to cease to exist.
For he comes, the human child,
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
The Boy-Who-Lived walked calmly up to a school staff member, there as escort for students. And handed him his letter of approval to come to the school with conditions. Bowed, and walked back to his Regent, they went back to where they came from.
