Last episode 1st season, the terrorists weren’t going after the President they were going after the airport planes with their RPG’s to restart 9/11 part 2.
Ari wanted to take out Gibbs at the same time to prove his daddy issues and that was why he took Kate.
And what happened to her wasn’t nice or pretty as she allowed herself to be conned into being taken by the terrorists.
They hit all the DC airports hard and take out several planes taking off, then leave to get to their next spot and leave Kate to be found. Dead. Behind as a card to Gibbs.
Now it’s a race to capture them before they hit another city and they are on the clock……

This is based on a what if book about terrorists working on another terrorist attack on the US soil by attacking the airports and planes taking off randomly.

The Real Twilight

Memorial Day took on a whole new meaning this year as the nation mourned their renewed innocence lost again. The bastard Ari, and his terrorist band had attacked several major east coast airports on the same day and at the same time. Each taking out two to three planes that had either been taking off or landing. In a lot of cases a plane was taken out along with the plane before it by getting the bits of the first sucked into the engines and blowing that one up.
Hit, was Reagan airport, JFK, Miami International, and O’Hare.
And dear, dear, Kate. Whose funeral on Memorial Day, of all days, was but one of many that were being held and at least they had a body as many didn’t. Even if it was a closed casket due to what Ari and his cronies did to her.
All tv’s were off in each of their houses as the election year politicians and spin doctors were out in force because of this. But the law enforcement scanners were going just in case. And they were going non-stop as the nut jobs were out in force complaining they were stuck in place due to the airports shut down yet again. And literally all stranded travelers were fighting for seats on trains or clogging up the freeways with road rage.
The National Guards in each state had already been called out to deal with that as the rest of the nation bunkered down yet again in only a few years. As it looked like those sitting in offices came in on a terrorist attack on their watch and it looked like they were going out on one. Maybe more, as these hadn’t been suicidal and one offs so it looked like there would be others coming soon. As such the heightened tensions in the nation weren’t helping the issues already going on.

Gibbs had ramped his asswholyness even more to the point where Morrow had no choice but to suspend him for his actions in the current crisis. Which then, later, got him arrested for being at one of the investigation sites trying to horn in. He was currently cooling his heels in Homeland’s jail cells awaiting his own interrogating as they were not going to play his games.
Tony had McGee checking the feeds around the roads leading to where the camp they had found Kate. And had the fingerprints they had picked up from the camp along with DNA from various things going through the labs sans Abby who was with the nuns.
This, while Tony checked out his contacts on any missing shipments of APGs. He already knew of the massive loss that recently hit near Afghanistan of several crates of weapons, and he was checking on the serial numbers on those to match up with what the intranet was marking in the findings from the various wreckage’s at the airports. And sending the positive findings onto Homeland.
Then he worked on finding crates coming into the areas hit that had the same weight and were big enough. Not going properly through customs, like they should.
A week later, both he, the labs, and McGee all got hits around the same time. Facial, DNA, and prints marked several that were internationally wanted from a side branch of a fundamentalist group that the fibbies claimed Ari was trying to destroy. Along with the same with Ari. Tony’s hits were to several dozen crates in Newark that were shipped from Libya to Saudi and from there to Newark and picked up in person late at night by the papers. Tony had McGee get into the feeds to pull up the pictures of who picked the crates up and where they went. Tracing the truck to a U-Haul where the crates were separated and lost. But the pictures ID’d the same men.
Tony sent that on through the Intranet along with the military serial numbers on the missing weapons. And how many there were.
Two hours later the Intranet lit up like a Christmas Tree as the higher ups got read in on that. And raids happened on the dock that had had the crates and arrests were made on the people who had allowed the smuggled weapons in. And the U-Haul office to get the name(s) the truck had been rented under. And from there tracing the other trucks through traffic to where they had been stored originally but had been separated. And the trucks those had been loaded up on.

In the meantime, the airports were still shut down and everyone was trying to get to where they were going via train when the trains were hit at logistical points along the lines.
Hit in Illinois right out of Chicago to NY and then the other side to Denver. Hit coming and going out of Salt Lake, and all-around LA.
Panic was now in the streets and demands were being shouted to every part of the government to find the terrorists. But the terrorist’s objective was being done, as they had effectively shut down the Capitalist Scum from doing business and their stock market was going into the basement along with all the other Western Capitalist Scum Nations.
They went back into hiding for now till the scum relaxed so they could hit again.

But this time one vehicle was caught outside Chicago by a passing LEO who got into a gunfight with the terrorists, and it was to the mutual destruction of both sides. From there, Homeland had access to the burner phone used and the keys and addresses the men were staying at. From there, they found the linked laptop.
Cracking that took time, and by the time they did, Ari had moved from where he had been coordinating things.
However, they were now able to trace him better and soon traced the other laptops and his. Moving in on all of them at the same time.
They went down as martyrs to their cause. And their leader back home claimed they won the battle waged on the unbelievers and that the unbelievers were so weak they could not fight all those who would fight against them. If the Defilers would go into the Holy Countries, they would go into theirs now. And all would go down.

Gibbs was tried under the Wartime’s Act and sent to Leavenworth for 10-20 for Aiding and Abetting the Terrorists with his own actions. Tony took over the team, and a new 2iC was brought in along with a good Senior Agent whose job was to properly train McGee.
Abby retired from the federal service and went to work in a research lab where things went life or death any longer. As things had hit a bit too close to home.
Morrow stayed put for a few more years before his own retirement and Granger took over for him. As anyone with friends in the Middle East wasn’t looked at with favor for quite a long time after those attacks.
