A Wolf’s Prayer

When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone

The smell was what all the survivors remembered most.
The smell of burnt flesh.
Though the sounds of children’s cries in pain
Followed those memories

I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars

The loves of their lives lay dead
At the hands of others
Their spirits haunting dreams now

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

All live in the hell of others’ making
As souls call out to remember
Holy places destroyed
And taken over

Then the mountain rose before me
By the deep well of desire
From the fountain of forgiveness
Beyond the ice and fire
The Black Wolf
With his White Wolf rise
And take back what was theirs
With Burning Fires
Return what was theirs
By right

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Souls still call lovingly
Caressing the living in joy
Of love returned

Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars
Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
We’ll rise above these earthly cares

The runs with new ones
Through returned lands
Howls of Family
Nearby

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless

Ghostly figures dance
In the night’s full moon

Please remember me
Please remember me
