To ignore the sounds

The clanks
The bangs
The squeaks
The pops

It’s just the house settling
The appliances running
The neighbors out doing various things.

It’s normal, it’s fine stop making a fuss
Looking for trouble when there is naught.

The ac comes on and it doesn’t sound quite right
The humming tone… is the pitch to high?

My mind won’t let go of the little thought
Something is just not right, a little too wrong.

Turn on the radio
Turn up the sound
Something familiar to help me ground
