John Sheppard awoke back in time. In another reality.
This universe did not have Stargates or the Ancients. John had found that he and Rodney plus Rodney’s best scientists had been sent back after the Ori plague attack when Atlantis had been on Earth. Their savior had been the Ancient Janus, and in return, he had set them up at Groom Lake with the remnants of his child, Atlantis, and John and Rodney’s family accounts and personal bank accounts put in that economies amounts making them up there with the Rockefeller for the amount of funds they each had.

They had the entirety of what would have been the military facility listed as theirs with the option they took buying much more acreage around the full facility. What was left of Atlantis was currently buried underground and took up the full ground they had originally had which was why they bought more all around. Using the scientists to cobble together new generators for the security fences they had placed around the perimeter until they could hire proper security, plus the cameras they mounted everywhere. Not that anyone came out there in the beginning as it was considered God-forsaken land.

That took a year, with John using the training he had gotten growing up to manage businesses to oversee everything while Rodney and his team did everything else. Including coming out with the new formulas for Duricrete and Lego-buildings for the topside. Along with the bunkers for the test areas above ground and launch areas for what they wanted to get in orbit knowing what might be coming up.
John had ordered and paid for workers to come out to lay the new road system inside the fence and a good wide road to the nearest city where he had added their own train. A perk for all of them since planes weren’t available at this time and they weren’t going the Zeppelin route.

Ordering surveyors for areas they knew would hold what they wanted then buying the lands around what would be mines for the metals they would need and other areas near then to smelt the metals and precious metals down, then ship those off on the new train tracks to places they could be manufactured in the case of steel or just purified and set in bars for the precious metals and all that sent to their base to be remade into the forms they need with the precious metals used in electronics and new computers. New underground telephone lines all along the new tracks to each of the new facilities.
Rodney or one of the other male minions doing safety inspections of each working mine or plant every six months at irregular schedules and the company workers each having the only stock in the companies they worked for with the options to buy more stock in the main company. A company that is also only owned and stocks going to employees. All profits not going back into the various companies go back to the workers/stockholders with regular local meetings every month. Actual stores in the company towns with no company stores allowed and pay was not script as the owners were the employees. Though pay was through a company bank set and backed by gold on the gold standard.
Each town was not segregated but integrated in full, with schools mandatory and starting at 5 to 18 or graduation and set on the STEAM standard. University was not the Ivy Leagues but 2-year Colleges that fed into Technical Colleges or other needed Colleges and from there to Graduate studies fully paid for by the company. Full company insurance and at least a medical team.

Public Patents: refrigerators, central air systems and heaters, hydroelectric systems, new types of greenhouses to grow on massive scales for entire communities and are multi-tiered. Stereo systems with surround sounds and movies with not only sound but THX, and full color and wide screen. Video monitors and TV systems with new cameras. Instamatic’s and the film and processing systems. 8mm video cameras and film.
New construction designs and machines and manufacturing plants with most of the dangerous work now done by robotic arms on the floors. The robotics were also internationally patented.
Hardier yet affordable vehicles made for traveling out west.

By 1910, John was mostly in the NY office running things with a direct phone line to the main base they had named A-1 at Groom. And other lines to the other facilities to check in with them. He was also managing shipping out to Europe from the US of their goods through their own lines called the Atlantis Shipping lines where the crew were all graduates of their schools and the lower bridge also held the secret electronic packages to look for dangers at sea. With added torpedo pods just below them, and anti-submarine protocols with weapons to take them out.
They did have tie-lines for Zeppelins since they didn’t have carriers at this time. Just none of them at this time. And by the time war was declared in Europe they had regular freight shipping going to those nations that had been deemed the Allied Powers and were being threatened by the German U-2 Boats enough that while they didn’t stop or slow down their shipping of goods to the Allies, they now had their Zeppelin ships tied in overhead to check for enemy ships Along with their electronics going.

A warning from the German Embassy to quit sending goods to the Allies was sent to John on February 8th, 1915, in the late afternoon. John told him to put it in writing, or he was just blowing hot air up his ass. The next day, just before the evening ships were getting ready to launch, the German Representative came again. John had a hidden video recorder and mic record the Representative restate his name and that he was an official representative from the Kaiser there to warm John, an American Businessman, to stop all trade with the Allies where A-1 also outlets for their international corporation and needed to keep them going with supplies, or else his ships would be attacked by German ships. Starting on the 15th of that month.
John forced him to reiterate that it included not being able to supply his own business interests with his international businesses located in those countries and therefore would cost him over a half of his stockholders’ income.
The answer back was yes, that if he chose his income and corporation over abiding by the German issues over international waters, they would be attacked.
John just thanked the man and asked him to leave never shutting off the recording.
The door shut and John faced the camera to which he knew would be transmitting the feed via A-1 base to all the places the company was for a vote from the employee stockholders to be relaid back to him by the 13th.

He gave his own speech to those who owned the company as the CEO then told them he would abide by the majority vote. A vote that was equal in its rights of minorities and women also voting if they too, worked in some way for the company. Even the 18-year-old stockboy and janitors and housekeepers at the lodges got equal votes in this.
By the next afternoon even the overseas cables had sent their votes in.
War.
He announced it via another transmission:

And, Ladies and Gentlemen, they have no idea who we are, but we know exactly who they are and where they can be found.

The next ships sent out were armed for battle with a trained Merchant Marine crew and their skies ready for an attack.
Their orders were to allow the new enemy to make the first shot with full documentation from above via video recording that to paint the oceans red with their blood. DO NOT fly the US Flag but fly the Internationally known A-1 Flag which was the symbol from the old Atlantis patch the teams used to wear in the old world.

Once they were almost at Lockerbie the electronics caught the enemy ships closing in from the front then maneuvering to the sides of the group of ships for a T-Shot. The word came out Fish in the Water, and confirmation that the ship above them was recording it as evasive maneuvers began to shake it off and their own locked on the group of U-Boats obviously catching them by surprise as the lead ships didn’t even get a chance to get out of the way.
Their own fish just swam out to sea to die as it lost power with nothing to hit. The A-1 ships moving faster than the Germans had planned for as they tried to get away from the secondary fish coming their way at the new targets. Blowing them to pieces as well. Sinking all of them to the bottom of the ocean before the crew could get off of them.

Wireless recordings sent to the nearest office to be immediately sent to John to be analyzed. Copies made for their Allied governments which each were given the moment each ship docked at the government’s port, their representative there to get the important recording after being hailed by wireless telegraph that something happened, they would want to know about involving a Wolf Pack and A-1 shipping.

That evening, before President Wilson was fully made aware of Germany attacking a fleet of American ships after relaying threats to them, full recordings were transmitted to each center of the corporation internationally. Followed by a picture from A-1 main base of the rocketeering area research area, where everyone watched the first of several launches of the new Multi-headed Ballistic Missiles, cameras switching to split screen to follow their path over the ocean to over Europe and to blast apart the center of Berlin with over 100 missiles. That recording too, was sent to the London Government as a show of – in John’s words – Fuck You Kaiser you Bastard.

It went immediately over the airwaves that Berlin had just suffered their own bombing, and the responsible party was going to be getting the very best Whiskey Britain could give them.

John politely sent his own PR person to the German Representative with a box of the recoded tapes and his own letter stating tit for tat. You hit us, we will hit back harder.

Suddenly all shipping was left alone, and the German troops were given orders to leave the businesses alone if they came across them. The Blitz was still going on in London, until a bomb took out a factory owned by A-1, then bombings hit back this time hitting military factories and wiping them out. Wiping out railroad lines that Germany and the Central Powers relied on. Wiping out bridges. Wiping out infrastructure in each of the Central Power countries. And it kept going on till the Central Powers surrendered unilaterally in time for Christmas of 1915. Their countries utterly destroyed just like they had been doing to others.

At this same time the hidden patents went through in bits and bobs so nobody could take bits of them to make their own without being sued. The US and Allied governments are vying to get their hands on A-1 to sell them the newest toys for their own use. And, by now, the employment of just under half of the citizens of the country. Enough that, John was surprised by the write-in nomination in the Presidential Primaries in both parties and winning in both parties.

But that’s another story Rodney won’t let him live down.
