A Quidditch Game to Remember

A/N: This bunny came from another one shot over on FFN somewhere with this premise. I’ve taken it a bit earlier than that author. And if I remember the name and author, I will give full credit here.
Anyone who can give them to me I would appreciate it.

The weather worsened steadily as the first Quidditch match drew nearer. Undaunted, the Gryffindor team was training harder than ever under the eye of Madam Hooch. Then, at their final training session before Saturday’s match, Oliver Wood gave his team some unwelcome news.
“We’re not playing Slytherin!” he told them, looking very angry. “Flint’s just been to see me. We’re playing Hufflepuff instead.”
“Why?” chorused the rest of the team.
“Flint’s excuse is that their Seeker’s arm’s still injured,” said Wood, grinding his teeth furiously. “But it’s obvious why they’re doing it. Don’t want to play in this weather. Think it’ll damage their chances. . ..”
There had been strong winds and heavy rain all day, and as Wood spoke, they heard a distant rumble of thunder.
Rowling, J.K. Harry Potter, and the Prisoner of Azkaban (pp. 67-68). Pottermore Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Harry, having been the only true witness to the events where Malfoy was injured and being on the team, motioned both Oliver and Madam Hooch over to him. To tell them both exactly what happened during the incident in question. And just how injured Malfoy was. Then asked Madam Hooch if she was asked or was told by Snape if this was happening and how badly this affected her entire schedule. As well as setting precedent.

He could tell she wasn’t in a good mood over the whole thing as it was. And now, learning the truth behind the incident, just made it worse. As she generated one of those patronus things Professor Lupin did, and told it to go to Madam Pomphrey and to have her re-exam Mr. Malfoy to see just how injured he was in regard to his playing in the upcoming game. Report to her in person, at dinner, in the great hall for all to hear. And let it go.

Then summoned a second one and told it to go to Professor Snape, no matter where he was. No matter how public or private. And tell him, either he finds a seeker for the upcoming game to play or forfeits. As HE is NOT in charge of the scheduling of the games, SHE is. And it will NEVER happen AGAIN that HE or ANY staff member bypasses her in her own field of expertise. And sent that one on.

Between the Mediwitch and Hooch, Malfoy was banned for the year for the attempt at cheating. And his house had to forfeit not only that game but the year in recompense as Sr had their fathers signed a binding contract for the brooms in return for his son being able to play.
Sr’s profits, however, plummeted as he was forced into buyouts on his most profitable businesses by several of those families. So much so in fact, Draco never got his revenge on Hagrid by having Buckbeak put down. The animal instead was bought by an animal breeding company owned as a side business of the Flints as a stud animal. And Sr no longer had the monetary pull to pay the minister and his stooge, Umbridge, to go against the might of Bones. So, the dementors were pulled, along with the Kiss on Sight order for Black.
Who turned himself in after his own capture of Peter…. But that’s another story….
