Journey to Self 6

Chapter Six

He had traveled down to Denver for the next leg of his journey and had already reserved a seat on The Mountaineer Train from Denver Colorado to Arches State Park in Utah and back. The Amtrak’s newest scenic train for his next trip.

Putting his stuff into short term storage for now and having his jeep serviced again while he was traveling. Starting the day before he was to start out with checking in and getting his tickets at Union Station. Tagging his luggage at the same time. With the train leaving the station at seven thirty the next morning.

After he was through with all that, he went back to his hotel room, and got lunch, then walked around downtown Denver getting snacks for the trip.

While he was walking around, he was surprised to hear his phone ring with Chris’ ringtone. And grabbed it really fast.
His latest video on Powell’s and Yellowstone had dropped and Chris felt he needed to talk about it. He was currently at his Abuela’s and on speakerphone with her listening in. His father was working that day. Buck then found out from Isabell that Han had been found near Boston for some reason, and Jee was under the current care of her grandparents, the Lees. Han was not granted bail. And, in fact, was in psych undergoing an exam to see if he was even fit for his trial. His exact words when confronted with hitting him was “He deserved it as he kept me from Maddie!”
The FBI, who had tracked him down, had also found Maddie under the care of a recognized PPD care facility, and it was under her orders that her daughter went to the Lees. As no one was able to contact him.

Under the orders of Maddie’s doctor, Han was given a full restraining order to stay away from the doctor’s patient until she could decide for herself how she wanted the relationship to go. And with no one able to contact him, her MPOA went to Athena according to Isabell.

After that, it was just catching up with each other, and Buck telling Chris about the upcoming train trip. Getting wishful talk about wanting to go on a train.
Buck hung up after a long talk with promises to take lots of videos for Chris. And he headed back to his hotel room to get dinner and some sleep for the next day.

Early the next morning, he checked out and got to the station. There he dropped off his luggage with the attendant to put on the bus that would take them to the hotel room in Glenwood Springs. This way, not even darkness would keep the passengers from seeing the views on the trip.

Huge windows in the train car so everyone could enjoy the view, and breakfast was served at the seats. A lounge car with bar and player-piano, which was where he sat taking video with commentary for Chris. The view changes the higher they went; yet more snow as they went further up the Rockies.
Going through the longest tunnel in the US (Moffit) – six miles – and the highest point the trip would go – 9200 feet. All the while eating lunch at his seat. The red rocks show well against the snow.

Arriving at Glenwood with the train attendant giving out room keys, with the luggage already in their rooms. The hot springs at the hotel felt good after being on the train all day.

Breakfast, again, on the train, and traveling along the Colorado River as the sun came out. Break to switch out the engineers in Grand Junction and off again. See the mountains change into the dark red of the Utah side of the Rockies and not much longer until reaching the side rail to Arches State Park. Here he had set up for a trip to Delicate Arch and a few others on the way, then catching the bus to Moab for the night. And the trip back on the train to Denver.
