The Man With the Plan

NCIS, Anthony DiNozzo

The Man with a Plan

Tony watched as the ambulances took Gibbs and his daughter’s best friend, Maddie, away after Gibbs’ suicidal play on the docks, remembering back to the man with a plan for everything he had first met and the rules he swore by. And now did nothing with. Just left death and destruction everywhere he walked and went.
Tony looked at the scene before him as the team worked it with the techs, wondering where the man he thought he knew went, though he felt he had slipped away slowly as more time went by and their partnership went into unannounced slavery.

Tony walked around in the late winter/early spring, in his wet clothes from diving in to rescue the man with all the plans from himself. But it seemed as though he was just a wet ghost that everyone ignored as they worked on the scene that had been left behind.
When he had met the man, his words were soft but with conviction, yet as time went on, his words grew loud, and the conviction seemed to lose the battle. The louder he spoke, the less conviction he spilled.
Now, since his return from his vacation with the bastard Franks, his words were shouted and yelled, his conviction lost entirely.
Tony worked in the background getting things done for the man who once had a plan, and now the plan was misty.

Years have passed since Tony joined, words remained, always remembered, the work Tony did hide in the ether. Forgotten until it was needed again. He was only known now as the man who kept Gibbs under control. And TPtB felt that was all he was good for.
He stood and watched as the sedan Gibbs had taken from work was dredged from the water, its windshield broken open from without by Tony to rescue the man with all the plans and the girl/woman he tried to get killed.
Actions, sometimes, speak louder than words. And he was thinking, ‘Why was he still here?’
He walked away from the pier to get a ride from one of his fellow cops to be checked out, but he would be seeing a doctor at a hospital where Gibbs was not.
He had the nurse call Balboa to come and take his deposition as he was putting in for the time owed him for the hours he worked, while undercover and working full time as an agent for Shepard. And by whatever gods he may not believe in, he was taking every last one of them before he finally transferred out to work with Morrow and far away from DC.
Fuck the man with the plans that were all talk and no action. He was going to take his life back as Gibbs had just proven, actions really do speak more than words, when the words disappear with a man who would rather be with his dead loved ones. No matter who he takes with him to get his plan into action.
