HP, Harry Potter, McGonagall, Talk of the ball
Professor McGonagall called above the noise, “Potter — a word, if you please.”
Professor McGonagall waited until the rest of the class had gone, and then said, “Potter, the champions and their partners —” “What partners?” said Harry. Professor McGonagall looked suspiciously at him, as though she thought he was trying to be funny.
“Your partners for the Yule Ball, Potter,” she said coldly. “Your dance partners.” Harry’s insides seemed to curl up and shrivel. “Dance partners?” He felt himself going red. “I don’t dance,” he said quickly. “Oh yes, you do,” said Professor McGonagall irritably. “That’s what I’m telling you. Traditionally, the champions and their partners open the ball.” Rowling, J.K. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (p. 156). Pottermore Publishing. Kindle Edition.
He glared at her and stood straight. But before he could open his mouth, she continued, “You are a Hogwarts champion, and you will do what is expected of you as a representative of the school. So make sure you get yourself a partner, Potter.” Rowling, J.K. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (p. 156). Pottermore Publishing. Kindle Edition.
“First, I am not Hogwarts Champion. Cedric is. Something you ALL seem to forget. I am the Champion of a Fourth School. And Only wear the school robes to be nice and because YOU and YOUR school HAVEN’T abided ME guest rights as the fourth Champion.
“In fact, YOU and YOUR school have gone out of your way to insult all three of the guest schools here. Mine included. Good going on International Relations.”
She opened her mouth to say something, but he zipped it shut with an overpowered spell. “No. You had your insulting say in my school’s entry into this tournament. It is my turn now. The results of the First task and any task in the future of this tournament are void. And those that validated them, are in arrears with the magic of the same contract that seals the champions to the tournament.
“Why? Because my school wasn’t represented in the judging and Karkaroff cheated. And was allowed to get away with it. Now they will reap what they sowed. All of them.”
She about fainted at that. And he grinned. “It truly pays to read the fine print on any and all contracts. And not just the parts that give you a hard on. As those parts are just as important. And if you pay attention, your hard on won’t be castrated off you. Like it is them.
“And you all.”
He ripped off his Gryffindor badge and his school badge, “I, Madam,” he said, dripping with disdain, “will only be partaking of the actual tasks as written in the contract. And not the pressing of the flesh, feel good, lets date rape the children, events you want to pander too. If you, and your Master, Dumbledore, have a problem with this, see my law firm as they are the representatives of my school.” He handed her a card with the slathering wolf’s head watermark of the well-known Potter law firm representatives. And undid his spell work on her.
“I’ll, of course, have my firm contact you for the details of where I’ll be staying for the rest of the tournament and for a refund of the rest the year’s school funds. Hogwarts volunteered to host me. That money will go towards paid tutors to get me caught up on my actual course work that this school lacks in its teaching.
“Until then, Madam, please have the elves move my things…. All my things…. To the VIP suite.
“Good DAY Madam.” And did a three-point turn, before walking out on her.
