911, Buck Sad Fic, Song Fic
Isabel
Buck hadn’t been in touch much with the Diaz’s since their Abuela left to live with her son in El Paso. Oh, Chris texted every once in a while, and Eddie nodded to him at work, but they had all grown distant now that she wasn’t there.
It was her daughter’s Instagram page that alerted him to Isabel’s passing of a heart attack a few days past. He already knew he would be working without Eddie due to it and that no one would understand his heart broken by the news that he just wanted to join her.
There would be no joint trip out to Texas as no one would give him bereavement leave for the loss of his heart.
While they were, thankfully, busy, at work, everyone was quiet over Eddie’s loss. Even though he wasn’t there currently having grabbed his son and clothes to book a flight out to his parents. Enough sadness going around that everyone ignored him writing in his tablet at every break he had, never having said a word that wasn’t work related.
It took Josh of all people to notice he had posted a tribute to her on his Instagram site. One with him playing a guitar and softly singing about Angel disguised as an older woman had come to him when he was at his lowest and saved his soul.
Oh, you are my rock, a soft place to land
My wings, my confidence, you understand
Your willingness beyond compare
No, I wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t been there
He sang of darkness and a bridge to nothingness
And the Angel’s voice coming to him
Taking him off the bridge that night
If you hadn’t been you, well, who would I be?
You’ve always seen the best in me
Your loving arms have cradled me
You held me close, and I believe
The hidden Angel had left to go back to Heaven
All he could think of now was
How disappointed in him she would be
Bawling like a baby
That she was now home
In Heaven
But in the memory of his Angel,
He wouldn’t go back
To that dark bridge
He would look to the light
And maybe he
Would bask in her love
Again, one day.
The post was sent to Maddie right after she got off work, and from there to everyone in the group, and calls were sent.
To fall in voicemail.
His Loft now has a new tenant.
Even Athena couldn’t get anything as his mail went to a PO Box that was being picked up by a friend from the 133. Was it really so long since they had asked how their baby brother was? So long that no one knew he had moved?
Their memories said yes, and it wasn’t until their day back to work that they found their baby brother had been allowed time off for his mental health after the Chief’s daughter saw his song and showed it to her father.
He transferred out to a further station during that time, his email sent to the group said all the memories hurt and it was time to move on. They only had to ask Maddie about what Buckley’s do when they hurt to understand.
His transfer was classified to all those at the 217 and 118 for his mental health. None heard from him again, outside of his song posts. All dedicated to his Angel.
