Forever Knight, Lucien LaCroix
Based on the song: Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones
He Introduced Himself
LaCroix always introduced himself as a man of culture, wealth and taste. The last the most, with his impeccable dress in the time period of the day, not decade. And one must not forget his knowledge of obscure wines and what was best.
His dissertations on faith and sin were breathtaking. So much sarcasm yet fact as though he had met the people he talked about and now found them…. Wanting to his needs.
The same when he talked of the fall of the Tsar of old Russia and how they must have look and…. Smelled as the end came. Talking about it as though caressing an old lover in pain. Talked of the stink of bodies in the trenches of the Great War as though he was right there and taking one there with him, then up in on the earth and tanks of the Blitzkrieg to take out the enemy and the stink of the dead as the bodies lay were they fell.
His audience nods in agreement while his son makes faces as he comments on the goings on of the day, that cops were criminals, and sinners were saints. Why just look at him and tell him otherwise.
He was Lucien. He was the Voice in the Night that caressed his listeners over to his side and then thanked him for his kisses.
He always introduced himself to his audience asking them if they had figured out his game.
Most would go to bed sated.
One or two? Would never be the same again.
