A Journey to Self
Chapter One:

Buck sat on his couch, head bowed, hands holding the bottle of beer he shouldn’t have with his probable concussion. Listening to his best friend kvetch about his woes at home. He had actually called Eddie to get a second look at his injury from Han’s hit to his face but had been ignored basically. And given a beer from his own fridge for his troubles.

Buck ended up being the one to console the slightly drunk Eddie and pour him into the Uber with directions to the driver of where to take him. With full payment. Then called Detective Ransone to come and take the assault charges against Chim and finally get him to the hospital to check on the conclusion.

And from the hospital, a medical note said that he would be off for the rest of the week from work. Which garnered him hostile phone calls from everyone about sexing up someone married and getting injured because of it.

With that, he went to HR, with both the recordings from the calls on his phone, the doctor’s note from the ER, and the police report, and told them he had had enough and was now taking a sabbatical of unknown time. And when he returned it would not be to that toxic station. Reminding the called in Higher-Ups, the Union head, and HR, that he still had the option to reopen the lawsuit. He reminded them he had won due to the mess that was the 118 A-Shift, that they hadn’t fixed as was promised when he dropped it and went back.

He was given an open-ended sabbatical contract, and Han’s FMLA leave was cancelled until he could physically come in person and explain his actions in hitting a family member. With notice going out along with the interstate BOLO for the non-custodial kidnapping charges currently being put out against him. As Han’s name wasn’t on Jee’s birth certificate due to Han’s problems with his father.

From there he shut down his phone, as it was getting even more toxic messages from his “family” over what was happening with Han because of him. The only notice he took was from Ransone of Officer Grant being stopped from putting a BOLO out on him, and being reamed for trying.

He went to the nearest phone store that carried his system and transferred over his phone to a new one with a new number and had them shut down his old phone. Wipe it after the transfer. And get rid of it. Picked up a new tablet and laptop system, and drone system. A new camera and recording system. With programs to integrate them.
Then he headed off to empty his storage unit of his old camping gear, while calling in a moving company to pack up the loft and put it in the unit.
No forwarding address available. But he would be putting his loft up for lease.

He went to stay at an extended stay motel, while his jeep was in the shop getting a full tune-up and he re-upped the gear he needed. Plus saw his trust fund manager who watched over things since he had clawed his trust back from his parents, back when they were in town for Maddie, and he found out about Daniel.
They even had to repay back everything they had illegally taken out. Which did not endure him to them and currently led to them having a restraining order against them being anywhere near him.
He made sure his manager would take care of his loft and get him a single floor house with four bedrooms. Fixed up for handicapped use in the area of Isabella’s home.

When he had contacted Chris, because of course he wasn’t going to drop off the face of the earth where Chris couldn’t find him, he had contacted him through the mutual game they played online. Giving him his new way of contacting him, with the caveat not to tell anyone about being in contact with him till he felt they had learned their lessons.

From there, Buck made reservations for the campgrounds up at the Redwood National Forest Campgrounds and was on his way.
Leaving utter chaos in his wake as, unlike Han, who at least had the same phone number even if he wasn’t answering while out looking/stalking, Maddie, and being on the run, hadn’t fallen into a blackhole and disappeared.
