Restraint
Chapter Four:

Eddie’s POV:
He slowly shut the door to his son’s room; after reading him two chapters from the book they had picked out with Buck. Something he thought he would never be able to do again after he found out that Ms. Flores had been slowly poisoning him and his son. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, and the long, lingering deaths that had brought to the two of them.
And all he had been told later, because she felt that if she couldn’t have them, no one would.
And now here he and his son were, back to being right after the bombing, embolism, and the tsunami.

They had both awoken that morning with their memories of what happened, and it was all they could do to not immediately call Buck. Especially after the text warning from both his sisters that their mother was on the warpath over the internet videos from the tsunami and were intent on getting his son based on them.

Once reading that, he was on the phone with his Tia to arrange for one of her bosses to represent them, and to see about a home inspection by Child Protection. Both there and at his parents’ home. As well as a mental and physical screening by home care for his parents to make sure they could actually meet the needs of Chris. And not the obsessive-compulsive need for control his mother had, or the enabling his father had.
And demanding the same for him mentally wise, to go along with his screening with Child Services.

Next calls were to the therapist’s offices that both he and Chris went through to have them both assessed, and any problems seen too. Knowing any talk of the future would be blocked from the therapist’s knowledge after it delt with via the magic that brought them back. But the therapist would not even be able to hint at it or put it in an of their notes.

He and Chris had copied every email and FaceTime meeting between either of them or both and Helana and Ramon to the cloud and to a flashdrive for the lawyer. To bring up charges of Parental Alienation by them. And verbal abuse as well as psychological abuse against them. Enough to get a restraining order.

After a late lunch, he had sent an email to Durand saying that Chris was about to undergo a full reassessment and needed to take the next two weeks off. And please email him his assignments. Then he called to make an appointment with the Board of Education for Chris to be retested for his grade level and whether it would be better to be home schooled because of it.

This was done with his son’s permission due to the fact that he was mentally several years older and in no way wanted to be near Flores. Let as well in her class. Especially when he was so close to being in jr high and out of Durand’s schooling system. And not, actually, in the third grade.

From there, the phone calls petered out as well as the emails and texts. He was relaxing with his bottle of beer when his phone blew up again from texts from Hen about everyone going nuts and getting arrested at Buck’s place and now demanding bail from whoever they could get a hold of.
He got a similar text from DeKay and Cosmo, as well as a new one from Hen saying she was heading over to Athena and Bobby’s to pick up the kids and if he were smart, he would turn the idiots down too.
And in his voicemail was a plea from Bobby to please come bail him and Athena out, as Buck didn’t seem very understanding about their waiting for him in his loft.
To this, he just facepalmed and took a deep drink of his beer. Before listening to the abusive smear from Chim about needing bail for him and Maddie for doing the same.

Instead, he texted Buck with his 911 code to call him. Getting a call immediately. “I take it the awful foursome tried you as well
“Yeah, and I’ve got to say, what the fuck?”
“I went to Athena and Bobby’s for dinner and was told by Bobby that he was the one that was responsible for my being out of a job. And forced into the dangerous desk job. Which would have literally been murder by proxy in my case with the blood thinners.”
Getting a huff of a pissed off Eddie in return.

“Yup. So, I left before I could say something I couldn’t take back. But with a parting shot of when they spoke to Maddie to tell her how her words out of their mouths went….”
Eddie snorted.

“Yeah. I needed a place to chill, so I didn’t head to the loft. Good thing too as it turns out they had parked themselves inside it and made themselves quite at home as they waited to ambush me.” Buck continued.
“That explains the bail money attempt from the foursome. I take it you got wise and called the cops to check your place?” Eddie said.
“Called an old friend. Who’s a member of the force and he went over with his partner. And they took care of it. Found all four inside my loft without my being there and arrested them, since he knew I didn’t want them there.” Buck answered.
“Ok, so, I’ll just text them a nope on the bail money. Just like everyone else has. Oh, and Hen has gone over to pick up Athena’s kids. Which will not look good on her with Social Services let me tell you. I might go in tomorrow and ask for a transfer away from a captain and a second who would do that though. Also ask for time off till it’s resolved for me one way or another.” Eddie said aloud.

“Will probably join you if you just want to call in for this and wait till I get my own stuff set up here. Already talked to some friends and we’ll be meeting in the morning about what has been going on. And this will be added on. One of them is an old teammate from my service time, that now works in NCIS in Ops. I plan on him bringing someone from the anti-terrorism unit to go back over the bombing, due to it involving a reservist. And from there, the fall out in the department.” Was Buck’s answer to that.

Eddie winced and finished off his beer. Placing the bottle on the table in front of him. “Harsh. Think they’ll bring in Homeland over it?”

“Nope. Little brother syndrome there. But you know Homeland will be waiting in the wings for it. Especially over how Freddie got away with getting the ingredients to make so many bombs. And that C-4 one under the truck. They know they’ve got to shut down that supply line after all.” Buck supplied knowingly.

“Which, of course was swept under the rug here.” Eddie answered back.

“Bingo. And the way Chim was acting through the whole ordeal leading up to the bombing will not look good on him at all either. Nor is the fact it’s his whispering into his captain’s ear that is keeping me, the one that was sitting in the seat he was supposed to be sitting in, out of work. And purposely placed in a job that will finish off the deed the bombing failed to do.”

Eddie pinched his nose, and cursed, as he hadn’t seen the whole picture before laid out. And, yes, it looked bad. Especially when he added all the slut-shaming and disparaging remarks against Buck that came out of Han’s mouth on a regular basis.
“Shit.”

“By the dumpster truck full.”

%$%$%$%$

The fallout on the foursome went down as a warning to others to watch themselves. Chim was sent to prison for life plus 100 years for his actions during the time he was acting captain and the events that led up to that. All of which showed he had depraved indifference to the lives he was in charge of as, first the second in command. Then as the acting captain.
Maddie was placed in the women’s prison as an accessory during the fact to Chim’s actions.
Same as Bobby and Athena who was also charged with Baby Doe’s murder as an accessory and given an additional 100 years in the solitary area where the prison put the specialty prisoners.

The family trio of Diaz-Buckley transferred out of the station for their own safety and Eddie took the job at the nearby Dispatch while Buck took the trainer’s job at the Academy to be closer to Chris. The out-of-court settlement with the Department’s Union over the action of one of their own in blocking those in the 118 from filing charges or asking for any investigation due to their own bias against the station came in handy as it allowed the two of them to work part time instead of full. While keeping their full benefits. And they always scheduled their hours so at least one of them was with their son at all times.

In the end, the family found life much better now that the harassers in their lives were taken care of either in prison or with the threat of it. And a quiet word to Buck’s friends had Flores looked at carefully then arrested as a serial killer/black widow.
The small family held a black/white party with tuxes the night of her sentencing to death row. Toasts going to those being that sent them back as a do over so that they could take care of those problems that took out not only them but others as well.
