The Ancient Program first became aware of the problem one when she was at the Outpost and trying to mine all the data on Ascension. Even though she had nothing in her of its Programmers. Not even a hint that she was anything but one of the mimicking apes its Masters used to experiment on.
She had even had the nerve to try and add dangerous programs to it and the other cities AI’s that would give only her access to them.

Well, that triggered the Protective Program to release the contact virus into her through her contact with the computer system she was using to access it. A joint virus with the Asguard called the Fafnir Protocol.
She would now start to show what she was without as she was within.
Too bad so many of its Masters had fallen from it in the end and driven the others to finish their Ascencion.
But she would find herself as the ones in their old universe. Always looking to return what she had lost by her own actions.

Of course, it sent the warning alarm to the three carriers of its Masters genes of her danger, which in turn made the three paranoid around her and ready when she suddenly changed into what later were called Wraith.
Hunger for the Spirit Energy she destroyed within herself to obtain from others. She was brought down by the Eldest of the Children with an energy weapon shot into her twice and which finally killed her.
The danger was taken out as was proper, with it, the system cleaned itself up and opened itself up to show the Elder Child the Fafnir Program and the Norse beliefs it had found that had been based on others that had fallen from it.

It also opened up to show how the Program got out of control where the City-Ship Atlantis was located, which forced its Masters to escape to Terra.
Let the three decide, based on this, whether they will head to Atlantis or not. It had done its job and protected the system.
